The inaugural workshop of the Addiction Studies Program for Journalists took place at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine Friday and Saturday, September 8 and 9, 2000, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Medical and science writers attended the workshop from across the nation.

September Workshop Syllabus

To create a framework for our explorations of addiction, we will examine the life of a celebrity who has struggled with drug addiction in the public eye for many years. All the information about this celebrity has come from the public record via print and electronic media.
