Tips for Parenting

Establish an evening routine that your children can count on night after night.

Children of all ages thrive on routine. Have dinner together as often as you can and at the same time every night. Talk about great things that happened during the day. Talk about upsetting things too. Discuss the news. Give everyone an opportunity to share opinions.

Set aside time for homework, evening chores, bathing, reading, setting out clothes for the next day, etc. Allow time to read (together if children are young, alone if they are older). Make time for your family's religious practices.

The routine makes your children feel safe, comfortable and confident.
