as Deputy Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy for Demand
Reduction under President George Bush. Prior to that he was Professor of
Psychiatry at Yale University, where he established in 1968 one of the first
multi-modality drug treatment programs in the nation, serving 1,000 patients
at any one time. A Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University and a
member of the National Academy of Science's Institute of Medicine, he is
co-editor of the leading medical textbook on substance abuse. |
